Most of us have experienced some sort of trauma in our lives and for some, this trauma is so severe that it affects and influences our daily lives until we reach a point where we are no longer able to function. A medical doctor or psychiatrist may diagnose Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and prescribe anti-anxiety or depression medication. Some medical practitioners also recommend therapy. I have worked with clients diagnosed with PTSD and other trauma-induced disorders for many years. My work with the Rape Crisis Centre and with SOSAD (Suicide Bereavement Support) has allowed me to realise that it is in this area of psychotherapy that I feel my strongest calling.
